Adopt a Stone

The Catoctin Aqueduct Restoration Fund, Inc.,
a 501 (C) (3) public charity, is implementing an “Adopt
a Stone” fundraising campaign. The
goal of the campaign is to raise $120,000. All
donations made to the fund are tax deductable.
Individuals and organizations can have a lasting impact on the
Catoctin Aqueduct by adopting a stone that will be part of the
restored aqueduct. Imagine visiting the restored aqueduct and being
able to point out, or possibly touch the stone you adopted that
helped make the project a success. You could also adopt a
stone as a gift or adopt one in memory of a loved one.
Get started adopting a stone ... downstream ... upstream ... coping stone ... prism stone
To adopt a stone you must first choose the location on the
aqueduct from which you wish to adopt. There are four locations
to choose from, upstream face, downstream face, coping (top),
or
prism. After choosing your location, select a specific area in that location
you want to adopt from. The specific location of ring, key,
berm coping and towpath coping stones in the restored aqueduct have
already been determined, which allows these stones to be specifically selected
when adopting. Other stones, such as parapet, spandrel, water table and prism will initially be adopted by
category and once placement of the stones in the aqueduct is
finalized, a specific stone will be assigned to the
donor. Click here for more information on stone types
and definitions. In all cases, donors will be provided an
adoption certificate acknowledging their donation and a location map
that will enable them to locate their adopted stone.
